Spicers Retreats is a collection of luxury, boutique properties set in unique and inspiring locations throughout South East Queensland and NSW.  As a Designer for Spicers Retreats you will be creating world-class luxury interior and exterior spaces that uphold the Spicers “look and feel” and are reflective of the environment and landscape of each property location. 

You will be joining our design team based at our Head Office in Fortitude Valley but the role will involve regular travel to our retreats both in Queensland and interstate.  It is essential that you are able to work collaboratively with your design team members and the General Managers of each property as well as external stakeholders including; vendors, contractors, architects and trades; to ensure results are achieved to meet deadlines and budgets.  You will be involved in planning, designing, furnishing and project managing a variety of projects across our retreats, restaurants and day spas to create spaces that are both operationally functional, visually pleasing and commercially viable.

Ideally you will be an experienced designer with demonstrated ability to:

  • Undertake design selections and styling for the Group, including photo-shoots
  • Develop and select all items for interior and exterior designs;
  • Coordinate systems & standards around the look & feel of each property;
  • Prepare and control the budget for scheduled maintenance, refurbs & renovations;
  • Prepare purchase orders, process orders and invoices for payment;
  • Produce and maintain Supplier Manuals and Visual Diaries for each property; and
  • Research and stay up to date with current design trends, product development and technology.

For this role, you must be Tertiary or Degree qualified in interior design, and have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar design/construction/project management role.  Experience with AutoCad and Sketchup will be highly regarded. As well as overseeing the design process from concept to completion, you will also ensure upkeep and maintenance of the Spicers brand through managing any and all property maintenance issues as required. This is a high energy, hands-on role of a physical nature so your ability to get your hands dirty and brow sweaty are absolutely essential! A current drivers’ licence and suitable vehicle is essential as travel to various Spicers Retreats on a regular basis is required.

Your success in this role will require you to be a competent communicator across complex issues; you must be detail oriented and have excellent problem solving skills.
