Spicers Retreats, is an emerging luxury accommodation and award-winning restaurant brand with properties located across Queensland and New South Wales.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for developing and implementing a scalable, strategic people plan for the business and for creating and implementing the tools and systems to execute that plan.   You will be a member of the Spicers Leadership Team and be integral in driving future growth of the business. 

As Group HR Manager, you will guide and direct a small team of HR professionals including Group HR Coordinator and Recruitment Specialist, who provide operational HR and recruitment support to a team of 300 employees across 12 business units. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement HR initiatives and strategies that align with the overall business strategy
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industrial instruments; WHS & WC practices and relevant legislation.
  • Provide advice and solutions to resolve ER and performance issues effectively.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process
  • Proactively drive employee engagement and retention programs
  • Administer remuneration and benefits programs
  • Develop and execute an employee and leadership development plan supported by appropriate L&D programs
  • Building a positive company culture and promoting the brand as an Employer of Choice through communications and marketing activity

To be successful in the role, you must have a strong operation HR background with the confidence and experience to develop strategy and contribute to the overall business direction as part of the Leadership Team.  This will require an HR professional with strong business acumen and a solutions focus.

Your strengths will be in establishing systems and processes; ensuring compliance and having the knowledge to provide strong support to the General Managers and Leadership team on all HR issues.

Working across multiple locations, you must be able to communicate effectively and have the ability to influence and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources and/or Organisational Development and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience is required for this position.  Experience within the hospitality industry and understanding of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award would also be advantageous. 

Given the location of our properties, regular interstate travel will form part of this role.
