The opportunity:

As the General Manager of Spicers Guest House, you will lead the charge on pre-opening, opening and ongoing operation of our newest Retreat. You will be a hands-on host who delights in providing guests with bespoke experiences. Engaging and driving your team to ensure seamless operations will be integral to delivering an exceptional guest experience – each and every time. This is what Spicers is all about! 

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the overall management of the property; developing and implementing business strategy; and delivering budgeted growth, revenue and profit targets.  Key to this is developing a strong and committed team who are able to consistently provide a high standard of service and hospitality.

About Us:

Spicers Guest House, has been an important destination within the Hunter Valley region for nearly 35 years. Over that time both locals and guests have created fond memories of their experiences there. The 18 month renovation of the property aligns it with the quintessentially Australian and relaxed luxury experience of Spicers Retreats. While the upgrade will reflect a fresh contemporary facelift, the comfortable and welcoming spirit of the original Guest House will be preserved.

The Spicers Guest House project encompasses a full upgrade to the main building housing a new bar, restaurant, private dining room, conference/function rooms, a well-appointed commercial kitchen and Team facilities. There will be significant renovations undertaken of the 49 accommodation rooms, including a 4 bedroom standalone cottage. A major overhaul of the landscape includes the addition of a new pool and function lawns, overlooking the surrounding mountain ranges and neighbouring vineyards.

Spicers Guest House is part of Spicers Retreats, and we boast a collection of spectacular, award winning properties set in multiple locations throughout South East Queensland and New South Wales.  Spicers Guest House will be our 9th retreat!

 

About you:

To be considered for this role, you will also have:

  • Significant hands-on experience managing a luxury property;
  • Pre-opening experience is desirable;
  • A passion for good food and wine and providing bespoke experiences for guests;
  • Strong business acumen;
  • Experience managing P&L, COGS, expenses; 
  • Strong team management experience – the ability to drive and manage performance;
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written;
  • A proactive approach and positive attitude;
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings as required;
  • A current RSA or RMLV;
  • .… and most importantly, a genuine passion for ‘everything hospitality’ – good food, great wine and awesome experiences!
