The opportunity:

As the Sous Chef of Spicers Balfour Hotel, you will be a hands-on leader who delights in providing guests with bespoke experiences. Engaging and driving your team to ensure seamless operations will be integral to delivering an exceptional guest experience – each and every time. 

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will support leading a passionate and highly skilled team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests whilst growing your career in an inspiring environment. Through supporting the Executive Chef to develop creative and contemporary menus; assist with the kitchen operations; and coach and lead the kitchen team to increase skill level and ensure the delivery of high quality dishes.

To be considered for this role, you will also have:

• Experience working in a similar establishment (fine dining, a la carte, hatted restaurant), Modern Italian cuisine highly regarded;
• Relevant qualifications;
• A passion for cooking and an interest in keeping abreast of latest trends and innovations;
• an emphasis on quality and pride in your work;
• Good business acumen, including rostering and stocktaking;
• Team management experience – the ability to drive and manage performance;
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written;
• A proactive approach and positive attitude;
• Willingness to work weekends and evenings as required;
